Dear Friends and Supporters,
Building on the momentum of our safe school zones work, we were incredibly proud to celebrate five years of impact with the
Safe Steps Kids - Road Safety program supported by Prudential Vietnam.
In
partnership with Prudential Vietnam, the National Traffic Safety
Committee, the Ministry of Education and Training, and local partners, AIP Foundation successfully hosted the first-ever Interprovincial Road Safety Day in April, marking five years of the program.
The event gathered over 500 students, parents, teachers, and officials
from Gia Lai, Quang Ngai, and Yen Bai provinces. The day focused on
empowering young students in Vietnam to be safer on the roads. The
success of this event reaffirms AIP Foundation and Prudential Vietnam’s
commitment to ensuring every child’s journey to school is safe.
Since
2020, the project has reached 15,000 students, 821 teachers, and
thousands of parents across 23 schools in six provinces, with 15 school
zones being upgraded, improving school zone safety based on iRAP
standards and 14,642 helmets distributed. Thank you, Prudential Vietnam for helping us safeguard young lives on the roads across Vietnam.
Championing youth voices is at the heart of our work at AIP Foundation. As part of the recently launched
Empowering Youth for Livable Cities program, two co-creation workshops were hosted by the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP) and AIP Foundation. The
objective of the two workshops was to collect real-time feedback from
youth and local government from the first phase of the program
(AI&Me: Empowering Youth for Safer Roads) and to ensure participants are actively involved in the development process of the digital tools of the new program.
Next week, we are excited to participate in the upcoming 8th United Nations Global Road Safety Week (UNGRSW) together with the international road safety community. The
UNGRSW offers an opportunity to spur action at national and local
levels to make walking and cycling safe, by highlighting concrete and
specific interventions that can be taken by different stakeholders –
governments, international agencies, civil society, businesses and
schools. This year marks the themes of #MakeWalkingSafe and #MakeCyclingSafe.
As we pave the way forward together, I invite you to please read on.
Sincerely,
