ΕΠΙΣΤΟΛΗ στην ΕΥΘΥΤΑ ΡΟΔΟΥ

Kalimera from Paris,

a few days ago during a visit to your beautiful island ( our first visit !) we nearly had an accident on the way to Lindos, close to a place called Kalasos.A car on the other side of the street taking over a bus nearly hit our car. The other car was speeding really fast, I think more than 140 k/h. I had to pull on the right and was very lucky not to hit frontally the other car. I was also very lucky not to go outside the road because a huge sign of an Estate Agency named Efstaiou (a yellow very big sign with a base of concrete !!! ) was there at one meter from the road. I was in the car with my wife and my 2 children and we were all very shocked !!I went to the local police station in Lindos to denounce the fact but the young policeman was very busy and apparently did not bother very much. He said that things like that happen and that we should be more careful. Filing the case would be a waste of time accrding to the young policeman... During our stay on the island we have not seen a single check point from the Traffic Police ... we have also been told from locals that many accidents happen and young people get killed !!Are there speed limits in Rhodes ? Are there any radar checks from the trafic police like here in France ? Are drug or alkohhol tests done regularly ? Are publicity signs allowed to be so close to the road ?

Kind regards, efharisto
Κonstantine Gianniou-Pierres
