ALLIANCE IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR NEW SEED PROGRAM The Alliance will pilot a seed program to fund implementation of small-scale projects that have the potential to bring about measurable change and serve as examples of best practice within our field. We invite you to send applications for projects ranging from USD 1,000–10,000. We anticipate that the pilot phase will fund three to five projects in total. If it is successful, we will seek to make the seed program permanent. The pilot phase is funded by FedEx. MEMBER CONCERN: FORMULA ONE TAKES ON ALCOHOL COMPANY AS PARTNER On June 9 2016, Formula One Management and Heineken announced an agreement for Heineken to become a Global Partner of Formula One. This will bring them substantial rights and brand visibility across the majority of events in the FIA Formula One World Championship. Alliance Member EuroCare is very concerned about the agreement and has drafted an open letter to the President of FIA about the issue. The open letter can be viewed HERE. Read more HERE.    ALLIANCE MEMBER HOLDS COLORFUL ROAD SAFETY WEEK IN INDIA Alliance Member the People’s Trust Jaipur held its annual Road Safety Week, which featured an abundance of fun and educational activities to promote road safety in Jaipur, India. The week’s festivities included the Eye Checkup Camp, which offered free vision tests in association with the Anand Eye Hospital in Jaipur. The week also featured defensive driving training in partnership with the Jaipur traffic police and a local driving school. The Road Safety Week in Jaipur is a splendid example of joining forces—public sector, private sector, and NGOs—to improve road safety. Read more on the Alliance website HERE. FEVR WINS THIS YEAR'S FUNDACION MAPFRE ROAD SAFETY AWARD  Congratulations to Alliance Member European Federation of Road Traffic Victims (FEVR) for receiving the “Best Accident Prevention and Road Safety Initiative” at this year’s Fundación MAPFRE Awards. Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain presented the award at the ceremony, along with a prize of EUR 30,000, to FEVR in recognition of their "Don’t Forget Seriously Injured Road Traffic Victims" project. This is the second year in a row in which an Alliance member has received the “Best Accident Prevention and Road Safety Initiative” award from Fundación MAPFRE. Last year, Alliance Member Youth for Road Safety (YOURS) received the award for its innovative youth training program. Read more on the Alliance website HERE.  ALLIANCE BOARD OF DIRECTORS' ANNOUNCEMENT  In May 2016, Mr. Floor Lieshout stepped down from his role as Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Alliance. The Alliance would like to extend its sincerest thanks to Floor for the invaluable contribution he has made to the Alliance. The Board of Directors has appointed Ms. Valeria Motta to join the Board.
