The European Union
has set a target to halve road deaths by 2020.
Which countries are on track, and which are playing
catch-up? At the 2017 PIN conference, the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) will launch its latest Road Safety Performance Index (PIN) Annual
Report looking
at why some countries are still making progress on road
safety and some are going in reverse. The PIN Conference will take place in Brussels on 20 June.
Two areas will be highlighted where action is needed to
ensure future progress: work-related road safety and reducing deaths in
single-vehicle collisions. The event
will also see the unveiling of this year’s PIN Award winner,
presented to a PIN-programme country that has made outstanding progress
on road safety.
