EDWARD – the European Day without a Road Death will take place on 19 September

Dear road safety partner, In 2018, for the third year in a row, project EDWARD – the European Day without a Road Death will take place on 19 September during the European Mobility Week. The objective of this campaign, launched by the European Traffic Police Network (TISPOL) and supported by the European Commission, is that no one should die on European roads on EDWARD Day. In the period leading up to EDWARD, we want all road users to think – even for just a few minutes – about the risks they face, the risks they may pose to others and how they can go about reducing those risks. We believe that EDWARD can make a significant contribution towards further decreasing the number of road deaths and serious road traffic injuries. Organise Road Safety Days Whether you represent an association, a business, a national, regional or local authority, a school, college or university, or whether you simply care as an individual, join us, organise Road Safety Days and register them on roadsafetydays.eu. Any activity promoting road safety culture can be part of the Road Safety Day, including information and awareness-raising activities in schools and in companies, workshops, conferences and competitions. Road Safety Days can be organised this year either on 19 September, the European Day Without a Road Death or at the occasion of the European Mobility Week, from 16 to 22 September. The first two editions of Project EDWARD were a great success with more than 120 road safety days organised across Europe and reached of more than 25 million people on Twitter. Take part in a photo competition and sign a pledge To make your participation unforgettable, we invite you to take part in a photo competition and send the three best photos of your Road Safety Day by 19 October to MOVE-ROAD-SAFETY-DAYS@ec.europa.eu. The best pictures of the contest will be promoted by the European Commission and the winner will be invited to the next Excellence in Road Safety Awards. You can also make a road safety commitment by signing a pledge on projectedward.eu and take part in the social media campaign (#ProjectEDWARD).
