Brake's Educator's Bulletin - November

It's almost Road Safety Week!

With just two weeks to go until Road Safety Week 2018, don't forget to sign up to get your free, downloadable action pack.

This year’s theme of Bike Smart aims to raise awareness about the importance of being safe while cycling, the dangers cyclists face on the roads, and what children want so they can cycle safely in their communities.

For more information about how to get involved, including our final Beep Beep! Day of 2018, read on or watch our short educator's webcast.

Be Bike Smart

Register for UK Road Safety Week 2018 (19-25 November). The Week is a great opportunity to engage children of all ages with road safety, and our theme of Bike Smart, by using free bilingual resources. These include assembly and workshop slides, guidance sheets, activity sheets, posters and digital content such as videos and games.

Beep Beep! Day

Get your little ones (aged 2-7) involved in RSW with our final, national Beep Beep! Day of 2018 on Wednesday 21 November.
It's a great way of getting them to understand road safety basics, and engaged with RSW, with free and low-cost resources provided by us.

Order your RSW resources

Show that you've got a good handle on road safety with this year's selfie handlebars. Take photos and share them on social media and help spread awareness this RSW!

We also have new classroom bumper packs, key rings, wristbands, t-shirts, stickers, balloons and more! Visit the Brake shop to order.

Get your RSW banner

Raise awareness by displaying a giant Road Safety Week banner. Banners are 5m x 1m and include your logo.
Contact Sheridan to order by Friday 9 November.

Fundraise for Brake

Road Safety Week is a perfect time to raise funds for Brake and support our work with road crash victims and campaign for safer roads.

This year we are encouraging people to hold a Road Safety Superhero Day or a Wear Your Stripes Day as part of your Beep Beep! Day and other RSW activities.

Take a look at our fundraising page for more information.

Improve pupils first journeys with road safety

Latest road safety statistics show a small decrease in child casualties on our roads, but there are still worrying patterns. Of these casualties, 23% happened between 3-5pm and 14% between 7-9am on a weekday - the exact times pupils travel back and forth to school.

To help your pupils master road safety especially with Road Safety Week (19-25 Nov) around the corner, THINK! has got content for every schedule including the essential ‘Top Tips to make Road safety stick’.

Check out the resources for age 3-16 avaliable now on the THINK! education website for more road safety inspiration.
