Dear Friends and Supporters,
The
final few weeks of 2025 have been a meaningful and energizing period
for AIP Foundation, marked by global recognition, strengthened
partnerships, and renewed momentum to protect children and communities
on the world’s roads.
We were deeply honored to celebrate our Founder and President, Sir Greig Craft, who has been conferred the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic
in recognition of a lifetime devoted to humanitarian service. This
prestigious honor reflects not only Greig’s personal commitment, but
also the collective impact of our partners and teams who have worked
tirelessly to advance road safety and public health across Asia. I’d
like to personally extend my warmest congratulations to Greig for this
extraordinary achievement.
We are also proud to share that AIP Foundation received the Prince
Michael International Road Safety Award 2025 for the SAFE STEPS Kids
Road Safety Program implemented in Cambodia and Vietnam. This
global recognition underscores the importance of evidence-based,
child-centered approaches and highlights the dedication of our local
partners, educators, and communities in keeping children safe on their
daily journeys.
At
the global level, AIP Foundation remains actively involved in advancing
shared mobility and safety goals alongside international partners. At the recent FIA Foundation Annual General Meeting in Tashkent, delegates
from across the sustainable mobility and road safety community gathered
to reflect on the Foundation’s five-year strategy achievements and the
impact of collaborative programmes implemented in over 100 countries. This
engagement contributes to wider advocacy efforts that underscore the
importance of equitable, sustainable, and health-focused transport
systems worldwide.
Our
work to strengthen helmet safety continues to gain momentum across the
region. In Thailand, the Safeguard – Helmet Advocacy Initiative’s
Technical Working Group congregated for its first workshop. We convened government and civil society stakeholders to build capacity for effective helmet advocacy, supporting stronger policies and improved enforcement to increase helmet use.
Collaboration remains at the heart of our approach. In Vietnam, together with WHO, we
mobilized national stakeholders ahead of the implementation of new
child safety restraint regulations taking effect in January – a critical step toward protecting children inside vehicles. We also welcomed opportunities for cross-country learning, as Japan hosted a Vietnamese government delegation to exchange experiences on safe school zones, supported by the World Bank – reinforcing the value of shared knowledge in accelerating proven solutions.
Each
of these milestones reflects the power of partnership, persistence, and
shared vision. As we look ahead to the new year, we remain committed to
translating global commitments into local action – ensuring that
policies, technologies, and infrastructure improvements lead to safer
journeys for those who need it most.
With
the holiday season upon us, we wish you and your loved ones a time of
peace, joy, and reflection. May the coming year bring good health, safe
journeys, and continued progress toward roads that protect everyone,
everywhere.
Sincerely,
