GLOBAL MEETING REGISTRATION OPEN Registration is now open for the Sixth Global Meeting of Nongovernmental Organizations Advocating for Road Safety and Road Victims, which will be held 8–13 April 2019 in Chania, Greece. MY STREET: WORLD HEALTH ASSEMBLY AND WEEK OF ACTION This week, the World Health Assembly convened in Geneva, Switzerland. To coincide with the assembly, the Child Health Initiative, sponsored by the government of Jamaica, organized an advocacy event that was attended by several Alliance members. Read more HERE. In support, FIA Foundation has organized a global week of action to campaign for a safe and healthy journey to and from school for every child by 2030. 21 Alliance members are running activities, including petitions, poster competitions, workshops, and social media campaigns under the theme #ThisisMyStreet.  Read more and see photos from the events HERE.

NEW WEBINAR: NGOS AND THE VOLUNTARY TARGETS In November 2017, UN member states agreed on a set of voluntary targets for road safety. This represents an important tool for NGO advocacy, especially as an opportunity to remind governments of the commitments they have made. Read more HERE. NEXT ALLIANCE ADVOCATE TRAINING IN INDIA  Registration will open in early June for our next Alliance Advocate training, which will be held in November in Delhi, India. Alliance members in Asia are eligible to apply. Find out more HERE.

UPS FOUNDATION PARTNERS WITH THE ALLIANCE  The Alliance is pleased to announce a new partnership with UPS Foundation that aims to promote NGO best practices in road safety around the world. The Alliance will support UPS Foundation in consolidating the key achievements of UPS Foundation–funded projects worldwide and determining how these have contributed to the five pillars of the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011–2020. It will also assist in the future programming of UPS Foundation’s road safety strategy, identify best practices that the foundation can adopt, and provide a performance framework to enable it to estimate the impact of its programs. MY LIFE AFTER THE CRASH In Alliance member FEVR’s recent report My Life After the Crash, three quarters of road crash victims interviewed had their work, life, or education disrupted permanently or for a long time, and 60% reported psychological symptoms related to post-traumatic stress disorder. The report compared the outcomes for road victims in Denmark, Belgium, and other countries in Western Europe and made recommendations for provision of support for victims based on these comparisons. PRINCE MICHAEL INTERNATIONAL ROAD SAFETY AWARDS: NOMINATIONS OPEN Nominations are currently open for the Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards. These prestigious awards recognize achievement and innovation in road safety worldwide and the Alliance was honored to be one of last year's recipients.
