Research Bereavement outcomes: Academics have explored the relationship between complicated grief and post-traumatic growth. Read more. Participation in research on suicide: A study has considered the benefits and risks of asking research participants about suicide. Read more. Bereavement and stigma: Research has explored the experiences of stigma that individuals bereaved through suicide, and other forms of sudden deaths, have faced. Read more. Community bereavement support: Researchers have reviewed which sources of community bereavement support are perceived to be most beneficial. Read more. Initiative - Loved & Lost A new photography project, titled 'Loved & Lost', has explored experiences of grief and loss, with the aim of challenging stigma around death and encouraging conversation about bereavement. Participants in the project explored their bereavement through re-staging family photos and discussing their experiences.  GET INVOLVED: Find out more about the project here. The impact of suicide in the UK study The University of Manchester's Centre for Mental Health and Safety are working in collaboration with the Support after Suicide Partnership (SASP) to conduct a national, anonymous survey, to highlight and identify the experiences of people in the UK who have been bereaved or affected by suicide. New guidance for NHS Trusts In partnership with families, carers and stakeholders, NHS England have produced new guidance, advising NHS Trusts about working with families who have been bereaved. This guidance has also been accompanied by the production of a leaflet for families, providing information about procedures and signposting towards organisations and services that can provide advice and support. Supporting suddenly bereaved children and young people Our next 'Supporting suddenly bereaved children and young people' seminar will be held in Cardiff (UK), on Thursday 22 November 2018. This seminar will provide an overview of the way in which children and young people experience and process grief, and offer insights into ways in which support professionals can best communicate and work with bereaved children.
