Finalists announced for Brake’s Fleet Safety Awards 2018 Brake is delighted to announce the shortlist for its 2018 annual Fleet Safety Awards sponsored by Trimble Field Service Management (FSM).  Brake’s prestigious Fleet Safety Awards recognise the achievements of those working to reduce the number of crashes involving at-work drivers, bringing together fleet operators and suppliers to celebrate and share best practice in managing road risk. We received an overwhelming high number of entries and now more than 40 organisations are in with a chance of winning one of 13 prestigious awards. Using vehicle technology to improve safety Brake has published a new guidance report aimed at health & safety and fleet professionals, in collaboration with MiX Telematics – a leading, global provider of fleet management solutions. ‘Using technology to improve fleet safety’ provides essential information for organisations that employ at-work drivers about developments in vehicle technology that can assist them to reduce their road risk. The guidance includes information on the benefits of technology such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including both automated and warning systems, and driver behaviour systems and telematics. It also gives an update on developments with automated and connected vehicles. The report also provides an overview of crash protection for vehicle occupants, crash protection for those outside the vehicle (other road users), blind spot protection, and anti-driver impairment and distraction systems. Best practice case studies provide an insight into measures other organisations are implementing to address their risk. Big Change - Leaders for Life  Leaders for Life is aimed at Directors and CEO's within all organisations, looking to encourage a top down implementation of driver safety initiatives amongst company drivers. Big Change are inviting CEOs and organisation leaders to join the initiative. They will be provided with BigChange technology to confidentially monitor their driving habits, and following the launch every three months, the 'best driver' and 'most improved driver' will be announced from the scores. Ambit Road Safety Research Survey How much do you know about UK driving, road safety and compliance? Ambit, the community platform for anyone responsible for workplace driving are conducting research investigating Workplace Driving Compliance and Safety and are asking for you to get involved and share your thoughts and experiences by answering a quick survey. The survey aims to identify which areas need addressing to make driving safer for you, your friends and everyone else on UK roads. Their mission is to improve driving safety and compliance in the UK and your input could help extensively build upon their existing research. All responses will be anonymous and published results will be aggregated statistics, aimed purely at understanding which areas need addressing.
