Manchester unveils new city walking and cycling plan  The city of Manchester in the UK has announced a ground-breaking new walking and cycling plan, prioritising the movement of people over motorised vehicles. The ‘Bee Network’ aims to tackle inactivity and congestion in the city, and has been developed with support from Greater Manchester’s 10 administrative districts, which have been canvassing public opinion across the city since 2017. Paris – cycle-friendly by 2024 The Mayor of Paris, France, has announced plans to make the city cycle-friendly by 2024. Building on the existing Plan Velo project, plans for a ‘City of 15 Minutes’ were unveiled as part of Anne Hidalgo’s re-election campaign. The new policy aims to create additional space for walking and cycling and is based on the concept of a ‘segmented city’ that provides access to essential amenities, jobs and shopping close to where people live. The ‘Vision Zero Challenge’ calls on city leaders to save lives by taking bold action on road safety. Participating cities must be able to demonstrate a systemic approach to reducing road deaths and injuries and will be graded according to their integration of the core elements of the safe systems approach to road safety. Five cities will be selected as #Vision2Action Champion Cities and will receive prestigious training and travel opportunities. Learn more NGOs tackle road danger for homeless children in Azerbaijan Two road safety NGOs in Azerbaijan are delivering road safety education to children and young people, after research from EASST and Partnership for Road Safety revealed the extent to which children living and working on the streets are exposed to road danger on a daily basis. The National Automobile Club of Azerbaijan (AMAK) has released a video highlighting the vulnerability of these children and warning drivers to be careful on roads.
